7. You also provided lodging and other hospitality services for clients during your travels. Please tell us more about that. What were your responsibilities?

Sharing responsibility for Barrier Island primarily involved being responsible for the island’s day-to-day operations while a property owner was on the island. I was primarily involved with fundraising, program coordination, website design and other administrative duties.

Because it was a small island, coordination was pretty basic at times. We relied heavily on local businesses and the American Consulate in Tahiti to help with some of our logistics. We started extensive systems for aid and Lofte’s Costa Rican Springs Resort.

8. What are the benefits of living on Costa Rica’s Barrier Islands?

What was great about living on Barrier Island was that it was a small island yet so tailor made for an extended stay vacation. We had full use of the Island. This meant that we didn’t have to jump from ship to ship or suffer through travel time-between jobs, ex- jobs and mail and phone deliveries.

Because we had full use of the Island, we were able to really extend our stay. We only had to stay for a portion of each vacation. Enjoying the extended stay also meant that we were able to see a different side of each country around the world.

We also have extended stays in smaller countries such as, the Netherlands and Germany. Even with such a small country, we were able to find luxurious accommodations and a healthy diet.

While this might not be ideal for families with children, you simply have to taste the different benefits of a healthy diet. If you’re a lover of a healthy lifestyle, you absolutely must try this.

Another plus is the ability to extend your “visit” in different countries. Instead of just going to the same place each and every time, you can see and experience so many different places all at the same time.

With just a little bit of planning and scheduling, you’ll be able to schedule stays in nice hotels and dine in nice restaurants. The specialists in our organization have many years of experience in working with families who are traveling around the world.
